James Akers is a hair stylist and the proud owner of “Do Or Dye” salon. He started his career in the early eighties. His professional training started at Mitchell’s Hairdressing Academy. He then continued with further training with company such as Graham Webb, Paul Mitchell Clairol and Redken.
Nothing seems to make James happier than knowing his clients are as happy with their hair as he is. James thinks of his business and friends. He is quite often heard saying that he is just as happy today as he was the first day he started is wonderful career.
Angie is Salon Manager as well as the go to person for any and all of your scheduling needs or product knowledge questions /custom orders here at Do or Dye . She has been in the beauty industry since 1996 and helps to keep the daily operations of the salon flowing seamlessly.
My name is Tim Truelove and I’ve stood the test of time in the “hair industry.” I’ve been in the business soon to be 43 years. It’s been is said, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” My nostalgic photograph captures the start of my journey as a stylist. It’s hard enough to survive any career for so long, but to survive and “THRIVE” in my business requires one to stay abreast of the ever-changing hairstyle trends through the years.
Deborah is a Durham native and the mother of a beautiful daughter. She started her Cosmetology career in 1987 and has been going strong at it ever since. She is well versed in everything from wedding/event styles, permanent waves, color Or highlighting, conservative to trending cuts and anything in between
Rebecca Parsons-Bishop joined our team in August 2018. She specializes in Color, Highlighting, Haircutting, and Styling. Her passion for cosmetology began in 2011, her caring nature, and ability have made her an important part of our team.
Rebecca’s other hobbies include singing with her band, going out to Karaoke, classic rock, poy, campfires, and cooking. She is a mom to an amazing little girl who aspires to be just like mom. Rebecca loves educating her clients on haircare, and the “Do’s and Don’ts”. She welcomes all hair textures and people from around the world, and can not wait to be your stylist.
Luann is a graduate from Atlantic beauty college and from 1987. She is a Durham native She has been at Salon Do or Dye for the past 20 years. She enjoys doing formal styles, color, perms, Precision cuts as well as foil highlights. She also provides discounted cuts for children and students. Leigh Lee Studied and received both her cosmetologist and aesthetician’s license in Taiwan and New York, with 30 years experience she was one of the first to offer us threading, permanent make, up lash perming and tinting and many more wonderful services. She services a loyal local and global clientele.
